Bejeweled 3 headed to Mac next month

PopCap, the well-known maker of casual games for Mac, PC and iOS devices, has announced the December 7th release of Bejeweled 3, the latest sequel to the popular match-3 game that features new interpretations of the Bejeweled theme, a quest involving 11 mini-games using other classic game mechanics, and four all-new secret games -- along with expanded re-workings of the four original game modes in Bejeweled 2.

Bejeweled v3 marks the 10th anniversary of PopCap's original version of the game, which has sold 50 million units across 17 platforms for desktop, online and mobile devices. The company refers to v3 as the first "true" sequel to their flagship franchise in more than six years.

In addition to the Classic mode (featuring powerful new gems and new ultra-smooth gameplay), v3 adds a Quest mode, a Zen mode (a relaxing untimed game with ambient sounds and binaural beats), a Lightning mode, four new secret games, badges and new, higher-resolution graphics and audio. The game will be available directly from the company as well as other major portals worldwide, and will sell for $20 and will initially be available only for Mac OS X and Windows.
